We are posting this invitation on behalf of Irish Centre for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Research (ICAN). You can have a look at their web site here.
The Irish Centre for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Research (ICAN) in National University of Ireland, Galway are looking for parents of children and adolescents with ASD, aged 6-17 years, to take part in a study. The study will be looking at the effect of anxiety on young people with ASD in terms of challenging behaviour, sleep problems, and gastrointestinal issues. Even if your child does not present with symptoms of anxiety, you are still able to take part, as it is important for us to understand the effects of co-occurring anxiety by including individuals with and without anxiety problems. If you wish to participate, please use the link below.
Take part in the research into autism and anxiety!

We hope that you will find them of use. the aim is to provide links to stories we hope will be useful for the autism community.
If you would like to suggest a story please leave a link in the comments box below.
The first story concerns a recent announced by the FDA saying that “products or treatments claiming to “cure” autism do not work as claimed. The same is true of many products claiming to “treat” autism. Some may carry significant health risks.”
You can read the full story at the FDA web site here.
“Children are ten times more likely to be diagnosed with autism if they have a brother or sister with the developmental disorder, researchers at King’s College London found” according to London’s Daily Telegraph.
But is this really the case?
Well there does seem to be some evidence that two children in the same family can be diagnosed with autism but how common is it really?
In fact it was our second child who is on the autism spectrum so it was not a question which came up for us but it does for lots of other people.
So we thought it would be worth taking a poll of our readers to see how many siblings/children diagnosed with ASD.
Many thanks in advance and feel free to use the comment box below to share you thoughts and stories with our readers!
