”All I’ve ever wanted in life was to have a voice. Most people look at me and either figure I have nothing to say or they simply don’t care.” Loosely based on the life of Michael Gimson, Dreaming in Autistic Colors follows a young autistic man just admitted into a mental hospital. After realizing all the unique type of patients in the hospital, Michael quickly feels out of place and feels inspired to film a movie with the help of his fellow patients. After hearing that they might become movie stars, the patients get caught up in the chaos and everything spirals from there.

Tony Marquez, Writer/Director, has been working on this project for quite sometime. “This film hits close to home because Michael Gimson is my brother-in-law and I’ve seen firsthand how much he has struggled,” said Marquez. Although this is a short film, it has so much depth and meaning within its short time span that the viewers are able to feel that they are experiencing this right along side Michael.

Through seeing Michael’s first experiences at the hospital and his ambitions to create a film, viewers can learn a lot about working through our own trials.
