New training helps law enforcement interact with those on the autism spectrum
An young man with autism has traveled thousands of miles and met with many police departments, including several in the Philly region, to educate police officers who to interact with others like him.
Adam Wolf, the teenager’s father, said his son was afraid after watching the Vacaville Police officer throwing his scooter aside, which is why he tried to get away.

A 4-year-old boy named Andrew, who has autism, became overwhelmed on a train platform and his mom couldn’t calm him down. While most people stared, a kind Washington, D.C. Metro police officer stepped in to help, and calmed the boy by simply holding his hand.
