  1. When I watched the video, inside me I was screaming… My daughter is Autistic and just the thought of the handcuffs … she soothes herself by clapping her hands or hand twitches all her emotions.. She also like most children with autism is below her years mentally. But if she was to get hit or provoked she would hit back, even knowing this is wrong. The police have caused damage to that boy mentally / emotionally. The school knowing very well of the boys condition, should’ve handled this incident much differently. I would sue the school board, teachers, and police. Rule of thumb… “Sue everybody” and you will always weed out the one who is 100% responsible for what happened. I hope you have his diagnosis on hand. So many times we hear of these stories and when it’s time to take action, parents don’t have an official diagnosis. I hope going forward that your son will trust again.

  2. Police are very eager to imprison children for profit incarnation . Prosecuting attorneys are powdered to fill the gaps due to contracts with the For Profit Prison system . They could give one care whom they destroy only promotions within the department . These are militant police departments . When money gets in the mix no one is safe no one will receive your rights it’s not profitable . This is flat out abuse of children had any one other than the military style MP street cops done this you would’ve been plastered alllllll over the national news networks .

  3. As a parent of a high functioning autistic child it made me cry for the little boy. People didn’t take the time or have the patience to find out why this boy was fighting and that was wrong, so he did the only thing he knew to protect himself. As for the parents of the bullies you should be ashamed of yourselves for letting your kid bully someone with special needs. There is definitely a place in hell for you. As for the teaching staff if you don’t know how to handle situations with special needs kids get trained on how to. Now for the police dept. have compassion for kids with special needs don’t use your authority talk to them, calm them down. If you come charging in they will defend themselves. Be patient and kind ot actually works. Done with my rant.

  4. This is absolutely horrific, this young autistic boy was being bullied and they arrest HIM ??Just because the teacher was not able to de-escalate the situation. As a teacher in special needs they should be able/watchful to anticipate any potential conflicts. Anticipating potential conflict is important, and there are many verbal & non-verbal cues to be mindful of as situations unfold.
The teachers should have recognition the signs of conflict escalation:
1: A person clenching his or her fists or tightening and untightening their jaw.
2: A sudden change in body language or tone used during a conversation.
3: The person starts pacing or fidgeting.

    • Unbelievable really he is 9 and autistic. What is this world coming to. These people should be ashamed for their ignorance and stupidity.

  5. That is barbaric is there no law to stop that by the police and for the teachers have u been educated a huff to deal whit this situation shamed on You all

  6. I am severely physically disabled and work with others with challenges, this child should not have been arrested, where is the child who openly bullied this boy? I do not understand why they thought openly giving the bully the upper hand and punishing the disabled boy makes sense to them. I think they need to read the ADA and 504 before they go back to teaching and get there act together. I have a teaching degree and would never do this to a child!!

  7. I don`t believe the story. I don’t believe that even an un- trained police officer would be that stupid. just plain commonsense would prevail.

  8. It’s about time that the police learn how to react with autistic children. They can lose their temper very easily as they can’t understand what is going on in these situations. I’ve seen my grandson lose his cool and he has to correct himself by telling himself to cool down. I feel so bad for them as they can’t be handled like normal children. Classes for police.

  9. We see things like this out here in the Central Valley. The teachers have no control of the behavior classes in the special education classes and in some cases are viscous and we have found this out. I had to hire an IEP lawyer and spent ocher 20,000 since my son was almost killed when a teacher fell on him and he slammed his head on the pavement. He has a brain cyst and that could of been it. Many of these kids have parents that will not medicate or treat their kids for other mental illness such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, which does exist in young children. I hate to say this but some teachers just call CPS for stupid reasons bc of a hero complex and should not be working. We have a broken system of people not being educated in mental illness, autism, and refuse to learn about the needs of the parents and children. People need to hold both teachers and parents accountable for thei behaviora so CPS goes away and families can heal and crap like this does not happen. This is so dumb, but common. More homeschooling should be allowed bc of the hostile attitude against parents.

  10. WTF is wrong with this country? Arresting young children not to mention one who has a disability. This is why people don’t respect authority.

  11. I can’t even begin to express how much this angers me! I would have lost it, and that scares me! Shame on all of you! Bless this father for keeping his cool and I hope he sues the shit out of everyone involved! Can’t imagine how they sleep at night!

  12. I cannot believe teachers doing such a stupid as to calling the police they should have called the parents first. And police need re-educating about downs syndrome and autism children Icannotvtell you how incensed I feel about this.

  13. How can handcuff a 9 year old child be compassionate he was not even putting up any resistance or trying to get to his dad bloody disgusting he needs a full apology from the school and police chin up buddy

  14. The police in this case are so very very wrong. No 9 year old child should be handcuffed. How does this send a positive message that the police are helpful when in need. It doesn’t. The police need to be trained better for children especially autistic children and adults.

  15. Sad sad on the teacher sad on the police some teacher don’t know how to handle kids with disabilities and that goes for officers too. Not trained at all to handle kids And never break up a fight by pull just one it should have been two adults. And it should have been a talk done ,over reacted.

  16. This is appalling!!!!! Why there needs to be more speakers talking to the police departments and workshops for them to take on appropriate behavior dealing with autistic children and understanding what Autism is all about. This also goes for the school teachers and school boards. Upsetting that this is still going on, this has to stop!!!!!!

  17. This is disgusting! There sould be no meed to handcuff and arrest such a young child. I would like to know what policies the school has in place for handling children on the Autism Spectrum and integrating them into mainstream. There should be a proper “Buddy-system” friendship groups and quiet areas where children can go when in stressful situations. Play and break-times should be monitimonitored and supervised to prevent escalation of poor behaviour and bullying.

  18. Compasion? Like a demon. That school needs to be closed until everyone is retrained and same goes for those officers.
