Autism Awareness

As regular readers of this blog and our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AutismTalk) will know we often help people at universities and voluntary organisations with survey and research projects on autism and ASD.

Today we are assisting Amy Mann, currently training to be a teacher in lifelong learners and working with young people in the spectrum, to find out more about reducing anxieties caused by social interaction.

Mann has produced a few questions which she would be very keen on having our readers answer.  You can answer in the comments box below or you can email Ms Mann at  amymann_09@hotmail.com.

Her questions are :-

1.            What was/what is your teacher’s understand of the autistic spectrum (if any)

2.            Did your teachers understand your spectrum diagnosis/presentation, if they did what did they do that benefited you?

3.            What do you feel is the biggest obstacle for you socially/emotionally in an education setting what needs to be put in place to over come these barriers to learning?

4.            Do you think/did your teachers have enough understanding of your presentation/diagnosis/ASC and its effects on you and other classmates?

Many thanks in advance
