St Nicolas also known as (Santa Claus or Father Christmas) was in fact a third century Bishop in what is now Turkey.

Though , oddly, I saw his remains in a church in Bucharest a few years ago.

The reason that I felt a post is due on him is that he is responsible for the wonderful tradition of Christmas gifts.
