Disabled mum with MS made to feel ‘lowest of the low’ as she fought for benefits

 

MS sufferer Dawn Lancaster, from Macclesfield, has revealed her application for disability benefits made her feel the ‘lowest of the low’

A mum-of-three with multiple sclerosis has said she was made to feel ‘the lowest of the low’ when battling to get her disability benefits reinstated.

Dawn Lancaster, 50, from Macclesfield in Cheshire, has been suffering from MS since 1995.

Multiple Sclerosis is an exhausting nerve condition that can painfully affect most parts of the body.

After having to stop accountancy work, Dawn received Disability Living Allowance (DLA). She was given a lifetime award of the higher rate mobility component and middle rate care.

But in May 2017, Dawn was reassessed to be moved onto a new benefit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
