smoking banAs we all know eliminating smoking is one of the key objectives of modern public health policy.

It therefore came as a surprise to many the the European Union is planning to take them off the market.  For more information on the debate please go to http://www.medicaldaily.com/e-cigarettes-be-regulated-tobacco-european-commission-leaked-documents-say-264041

I have to say I’ve surprised because the feedback from my friends who have used them is very positive.

So i was wondering what you think.  Please take our poll below.  Feel free to use the comments box to flesh our your views

  1. I think they should be regulated only as far as underage sale and also that the amout of nicotine that is advertised is what you are actually getting. Like a quality control issue. I started using e-cigs in February of 2013 after 30+ years of smoking cigarettes. I am now down to the zero.nicotine and have been for about 3 months. Every doctor I’ve dealt with since quitting cigarettes for.the e cigs has approved. I’ve tried other smoking cessation programs and had zero success with them. I know e cigs aren’t advertised as a smoking cessation program but it has helped me kick a 2pk 30+ yrs habit for almost a full.year. I’m hoping to soon put down the e cig it’s self.

  2. They definitely should.  There are so many different versions out there that regulation is the only way to ensure safety, especially when it comes to nicotine levels.  The preliminary research is pretty positive on there at transitioning people from traditional cigarettes but the research is young and little is out there.  Not saying that e-cigarettes are as bad as traditional cigarettes but contrary to popular belief they are not without toxins…
