Loads of different events are being planned across the planet and the aim of this blog post is to help people find out about them. Please use the comments box below to share any information you have about any events you may be involved in.
To start the ball rolling my son’s school is have a crazy socks day to raise money for the National Autistic Society. Each child in the school has been invited to wear the most outlandish pair of socks they own to school for the day. The school has both neurotypical and ASD students so it is a great way of helping other children understand autism, For some background to the school please have a look at https://patienttalk.org/autism-and-education-part-two-compromise-or-half-way-house-our-autistic-sons-educational-journey-explained/.
We have also made an awareness raising picture for the day. You can download it here https://patienttalk.org/world-autism-awareness-day-2014-please-like-and-show-your-support-for-the-day/. Please share with everyone you know.
Many thanks in advance.
kind of feeling sad that the society where i belong doesn’t have any special awareness on autism.. due to lack of education and proper information ppl treat any ASD kids like kind of abnormal or disease. My son is just 2 and half and he is on classic spectrum and when he react to any unfriendly and noisy environment ppl stares and make comments like why i am letting him to show tantrum, and why am i not teaching him manners??????????????…many many more questions….they says he is stubborn and he needs to be controlled…even my close frnds and families says i am spoiling him that i should send him to a hostel…huh!! but i know he is different and he can’t adjust with this so called normal day to day life. Its difficult to make them understand about autism.Even if i try nobody listen…frankly speaking this word doesn’t exist in this society…even i wasn’t aware about autism till my son was diagnosed…and thanks to the little knowledge and internet, today i know autism is not some sort of disability..Ppl blame me that i might have done something wrong when my son was in my womb, some says its a curse, and some make judgement by saying my son has been punished for his bad deeds in his previous life , such a ignorant and illiterate talk and that comes from most of the people i stay close with… .my partner left me because of my son coz he is ashamed of him..he was very strict with him and he blamed me all the time and he never wanted to listen and try learn the meaning of AUTISM..and today its me and my son, at least i am happy that he is safe with me and i don’t care what society says or describe my son’s condition but he is my world and he is my only life …my son is very special, true, and he has such a innocent smile and pure heart..the challenges i am going through my son also does the same and we know we both will overcome this one day…no matter how much ppl judge or ppl say, we are strong enough to handle, and thanks to the support form special pages on internet which gives opportunity to a mother like me to share her feelings and her daily basis challenges that she faces within the society, from the neighbors, from the frnds and from the families….Thanks for the support y’all!!!!
