Got a flexible standing desk? Then check out Vari’s Active Seat

A few months back I gave a 5 star review to the Varidesk.  You can read it here.  And I’m still using it with great success!

Most of us now know the benefits of a standing desk!  Burning up to 60 calories  each hour make it a bit of a no brainer when compared with sitting at your desk.  Plus Ernest Hemingway did it so it’s cool.[1]

That being said by the mid-afternoon even the thought of losing weight can weigh heavily on the brains (and legs) of people).  Let’s be honest it hurts a bit.

So our friends at Vari have come up with a solution.  Which they are calling the Veri Active Seat.  As you can see from the picture it is a bit more of a stool than a chair so seat is a good name.  But what’s in a word.

The point about it is: that it is very flexible.  When I say flexible I don’t just mean up and down it also from side to side and back to front.  The reason for this is to provide maximum flexibility of sitting position.  You see it is allow the user to sit or semi-stand at the height of your choice which makes it the perfect companion to the Veridesk.

Properly padded it makes for a serious bit of comfort  (after a long day on your feet)  and it comes in matt black with makes it great for 80’s nostalgic like me.

I should mention that it does take a bit of getting used to but I have to say I’ve never fallen off.  Yet![2]  And the handle at the back means that it is easy to move to the side of your desk with

Is there a down side?  Well, yes, there it because it is so comfortable it does incline the user to actually use it, but after six hours on your hand legs can we really be blamed for waiting a bit of a rest?

And it comes in one piece so you don’t employ your flat pack skill getting it set up.

So where do you get one?

Vari (they have rebranded from Varidesk) have a easy to use web site here. The entry level chair comes in at £250 UK prices (I’m not sure about other countries) but it is well worth it as it actually makes standing desks doable.  This means that the benefits outweigh the costs totally.

If you can lose pounds and stay fit while being at work it has to be worthwhile.  It does means you don’t have to go to the gym or stop eating a health and balanced diet but it is one of those “hidden” healthy habits which all go into the mix of a better lifestyle.

[1] In fact I found the desk so useful that my wife ordered one for her work place.

[2] Actually it is very very sturdy so nothing to worry about and its also pretty light for what you get.
