The following is an interview with Temple Grandin, a well known author and person with autism who was featured on an HBO special several years ago, and agreed to be interviewed by Dr. Harrington for our Insights Into Autism meeting. The interview centers on COVID 19 and children and families dealing with autism. She provides great advice and reflections on her struggles with autism and how she overcame many of the features of autism to become the successful person she is today.

Temple Grandin was nonverbal until the age of four. Today, she is a Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University, and one of the leading authorities on livestock facility design, as well as an autism awareness advocate. She credits certain aspects of her autism, such as visual thinking and attention to detail, for helping her succeed. The Life Autistic series explores the successes and challenges of individuals at different life stages.
