What single thing would improve the quality of your healthcare?

Yep – that is it.

As part of our on going discussion on healthcare and healthcare reform we are running some rolling research with our readers.

Today we would love to know what one thing, you feel, would improve the quality of your healthcare provision?

It would be great if you could share your thoughts in the comments box below. It would be great if you could mention if you had a chronic or acute medical condition (and what it is) as well as in which country you live.

For full disclosure I live in the UK, I’m a carer for a child on the autism spectrum and have hyperlipidemia. The one thing that would improve my healthcare would be being able to see a doctor without having to wait for a month. (oh and Sunday openings would be grand as well).

I am really looking forward to reading your comments.

Are you satisfied with the quality of your healthcare provision? Take part in our research.

As some of our regular readers will know we are running some rolling research into global perceptions on healthcare provision. This is being done by using a series of online polls ( as opposed to surveys) of which this is the second one.

Our overall objective is to find out how users of healthcare think healthcare can be improved.

So what will we do with this research? Well apart from giving you a voice we plan to put together a report which gives the suggestions of our readers as to how best to reform global healthcare.

Which means that anything you wish to share both in the polls but also in the comments section will be very useful to us.

I have to say the results of the first poll were eye-opening. We asked our readers if they thought that that the Doctors acted as they they were lying to them. You can check out the startling and shocking results here.

Thanks very much in advance for your help with the research!

A few days ago we share a request from Emily Schreiber of Xavier University to share an invitation to a research project she is running.

Yesterday she got in touch explaining that she has one particular group whom she would like to conduct a few more interviews. In this case women who are lone caregivers of a child with autism.

Schreiber told us ” I am conducting research examining social support experienced by mothers raising a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Research on single-caregivers needs to be advanced in this field.

Please help me with this initiative by taking two brief questionnaires (no more than 10-15 minutes):

It seems that these days I am writing an introduction to a blog post like this. As I nearly always explain one of the main objectives of this blog is to promote academic research into autism. Not surprising since I sent 20 years in market research and have a son with ASD.

In this case Emily Schreiber , a doctoral student at Xavier University, is conducting some research with female caregivers of children with ASD. The survey is online and lasts around 30 minutes. If toy do complete the study you will be entered into a prize draw for a $50 Walmart voucher!

Of course giving this information is voluntary. No identifying information will be linked to your responses if you have any concerns.

Schreiber shared  ” Are you a female caregiver of a child with autism? We need to hear about your experience!

We are conducting a study about social support experienced by mothers raising a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Participation in this study will be anonymous and will be of no risk or benefit to you.”

My normal preface to guest posts like this is to explain that I’m both a parent of a child with ASD and I’m an ex-market researcher which is why I like to help promote academic research into autism.

So there.  I’ve said it.
