My name is Benjamin Kellogg. I was diagnosed with autism when I was a small boy, and my autism has greatly affected the way I see the world and how I interact with it. As part of my unique perspective, I struggled with developing social and life skills. Cleaning my room and sharing with others along with many other skills were very challenging for me. With help and much love from my parents and family and the support of some great therapists, teachers, and friends, I eventually mastered these skills.
As I got older and could accomplish more, I also earned my two-year degree; an Associate’s in Arts in Humanities and Social Science with a Concentration in Writing. Since graduating, I have pursued a career in freelance writing. Along with the two published stories for my children’s series I am currently developing, I have also had two poems published in a local special needs magazine, and I am writing a novel. I also maintain a blog about my hobbies and interests at www.kellogthoughts.com.
With my “Noah and Logan” children’s book series, I would like to help other people with autism learn the same social and life skills that were difficult for me to master when I was a boy, and my hope is that they will enjoy reading, learning from, and sharing these stories.
I write the books and my mother illustrates each story based on my ideas because I have fine motor problems making it difficult for me to draw. The first two books in the series are entitled, “Noah and Logan Learn to Clean” and “Noah and Logan Learn to Share”. They are available in the e-book format for Kindle apps and devices, and you can find information about the series on my web site: www.benjaminkmkellogg.com.
