Please help the National Autistic Society with a survey

National Autistic Society Survey -

National Autistic Society Survey –

The Disabled Children’s Partnership is a coalition of over 30 organisations that have come together to campaign for improved health and social care provision for disabled children, young people and their families.

This survey will be used to understand more about the day-to-day lives of disabled children, young people and their families and to help the Disabled Children’s Partnership campaign.

Included within the questions are some that you might find difficult to answer. We have asked these questions so that we can get a realistic and honest understanding of your life and experiences. This will help us to campaign for improved health and social care provision for disabled children.

Our ambition is to complete the biggest survey ever undertaken of families with disabled children.

The survey will take a few minutes to complete. Please answer all the questions and do so as accurately as you can.

All responses will be anonymous.

How teachers can support children with autism

As part of our on going series of blogs on autism and education we thought we would share this great video from the UK’s National Autistic Society entitled “How teachers can support children with autism “.

Please do share it with anyone you know who works in education. It might really help the school of a child on the autism spectrum!

Autism and Employment

Autism and Employment

The National Autistic Society have produced a brilliant video which tries to show what a job interview is like for a person on the autism spectrum.

This World Autism Awareness Month we are planning to highlight some of the many issues which surround autism and employment. Check out yesterday’s post on a cafe which is staffed by people on the autism spectrum.

To help us promote better working conditions for autistic people please feel free to like and share this page!

Autism – should training be provided free of charge to parents and family members of children on the autism spectrum?

Training for Autism

Training for Autism

When our son John was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum (you can read about it here) we were offered a training course by the National Autistic Society called Early Bird.

While well meaning it was, in fact, total rubbish. And put me off the NAS for a few years.

However I am still of the view that decent training would be really helpful for parents of children who have been or in the process of being diagnosed with autism. What do you think?

It would be great if you could take part in the poll below. But also it would be great if you could tell us a bit more about the training courses you have received over the years.

If you provide training please tell us more in the comments section below.

Many thanks in advance.
