Here’s my impromptu, unplanned speech on “Why Autistic Pride Matters” at MANCHESTER AUTISTIC PRIDE 2018. Thank you so much Mercy Charpentier for organizing an Autistic Pride by Autistics, for Autistics. You and everyone else who we spoke to there were an absolute pleasure to meet. “We are stronger together. It’s why Pride matters. It’s what unites us in the face of shame, stigma, bullying, discrimination and abuse. Pride offers an alternative. So I choose Pride. Not fear.

Anyhow quite a few people ask me about Autistic Pride – what it was – what it meant – why should we support it and so forth.

Autistic Pride Day 2015
Last week I put up a blog post promoting Autism Pride. As you can see from the comments here this upset a few people who explained that it is Autistic Pride not Autism Pride. I’ve seen both in fact.
The best solution, I thought,would be just to produce a new graphic promoting the day. So please like and share . Also do join us at the Pride event on Facebook here.
Finally , and this is a really important question. Should it be Autism Pride Day or Autistic Pride Day. Have your say in the comments box below and explain your thinking.
