So what is Applied Behavior Analysis ( or ABA) as a treatment for Autism?

I have been looking a good introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis or ABA as a treatment for autism.

And I am happy to share this excellent infographic which gives a great overview of ABA as a therapy for ASD.

If you would like to share any experiences you have had with Applied Behavior Analysis please check out this previous blog post here.

The ABC of Autism – a great introduction

As the father of an eight year old with autism I’m always of the lookout for ways of promoting awareness and increased knowledge of ASD.

So I thought I would share this great resource from Mount Sinai Hospital with you.

Please do feel free to share with your family and friends.

Learn more about autism.

The history of autism

Normally when this blog deal with autism it focuses on practical solutions especially in regard to bringing up children with ASD. A few examples can be seen here. No surprising though when you remember that my wife and I are bring up an eight year old boy who is on the spectrum.

However over the weekend I can across this very interesting infographic which looks at the history of autism.

Although like many of my readers I deal with autism every day it is something I often ignore.

Big Give for Autism

On September 17, the Autism Society will host their first ever “Big Give for Autism” campaign. So here at PatientTalk.Org we thought it a great opportunity to show our support for the ASD community. Indeed it was just over six years ago that our son was diagnosed with autism.

The Big Give for Autism is a one-day awareness and fundraising event designed to raise funds for the Autism Society, their affiliates and partners spread across the country. The day-long initiative highlight the critical need for services, resources and therapies that will allow people , like our son, living with an autism diagnosis to reach their full potential.

The Autism Society relies upon the very important and tremendously appreciated donations from friends and supporters to effectively serve the needs of those on the autism spectrum and their families. Funds raised from the Big Give will remain in local communities enabling the Autism Society to advance the work on helping each person living with autism maximize their quality of life.

The Big Give for Autism was created to give donors the power to decide how you want your money spent. If you wish to help your local community, then we encourage you to give to your state and local Autism Society affiliate. If you want to have a national impact with your donation, then we encourage you to support the Autism Society.

To find out more or make a donation please go to the Big Give for Autism website.

As you can see Big Give for Autism have produced a Facebook cover. We hope you will consider downloading it and putting it on your own facebook page.
