In most commodity markets, increasing competition drives the price of resources down to the benefit of consumers, but in the pharmaceutical market for Multiple Sclerosis drugs, something insidious is happening. In 1993, the first MS disease modifying therapy came onto the market (Betaseron©), but now there are twenty-two FDA-approved drugs. Despite this plethora of options from several manufacturers, the prices are climbing rapidly toward an absurd $100,000 per year.
