In this video, I answer peoples questions about the autoimmune protocol and whether this can help with fibromyalgia. I share a research based food sensitivity lab called mediator release testing, which could be helpful in symptom improvement such as by improving pain, fatigue, mood, and other symptoms, for those struggling with fibromyalgia.
One Trick To Sleep When You Have Fibromyalgia I have Fibromyalgia and one things that makes it worse it being unable to get adequate sleep. Unfortunately, the Fibromyalgia itself makes it difficult to sleep. Today, we’ll be talking about one of the things I do to get better sleep
Unfortunately, the list of foods that may trigger fibromyalgia pain is fairly long, and can vary from one individual to another.
Trial and error is often one of the few ways to find out what foods to avoid. Eliminating one type of food entirely for several weeks, and keeping a detailed food log to track symptoms, is one way to help you figure it out.
That said, it’s widely accepted that there are certain general rules about foods that are likely to trigger fibromyalgia pain sensitivity.
Sugar
Reducing or eliminating sugar can have a significant impact, not only on fibromyalgia sensitivity, but on overall health. Foods that are high in sugar have been linked to increased fibromyalgia pain, and of course, they also contribute to weigh gain. Being overweight puts extra stress on the body, which can cause fibromyalgia-triggering inflammation. Get in the habit of reading nutrition labels, and watch out for ingredients like glucose, fructose, and sucrose, which are other names for sugar. No doubt you already know there’s a lot of sugar in candy and soft drinks.
Carbohydrates.
Certain foods that are digested quickly cause blood sugar levels to spike, which can lead to fibromyalgia pain. These foods include refined carbohydrates such as cookies, many breads, pastries, and white rice. When you eat carbs, stick to those your body digests more slowly to avoid the highs and lows that occur with refined varieties.
Unhealthy fats.
Oils that are commonly used for frying foods tend to have an inflammatory effect. Among these are vegetable oils, such as corn oil, safflower oil, and peanut oil. Researchers have linked fried foods to fibromyalgia symptoms. Unhealthy oils are also a common ingredient in many popular treats and snacks like cookies, doughnuts, and crackers. Pizza and cheese are also major sources of unhealthy fats.
Processed foods.
These tend to increase inflammation because they often contain sugar and unhealthy fats. Additives that contain certain flavorings and preservatives can also trigger fibromyalgia sensitivity.
Alcohol
More research is needed, but some individuals with fibromyalgia say drinking alcohol causes their symptoms to flare. Alcohol can also interact negatively with certain medications that are usually prescribed for fibromyalgia.
As if that’s not enough, there are other foods and ingredients that cause symptoms for some people but not others.
These include, but are not limited to the following.
* Gluten
* Red meat *
Fruits and vegetables in the nightshade family, such as tomatoes, white potatoes, green peppers, and goji berries.
* Dairy products
* Eggs
* Caffeine
The purpose of this video has been to provide quick, basic information about foods that trigger fibromyalgia pain.
