As a person with vision issues (I’m now both long and short sighted) I know the value of regular eye tests. Being in my late forties mean that my eyesight is changing fast. So regular check ups from my optician mean that I reduce otherwise significant vision problems.
So we thought we would share with you five great reasons to have an eye test!
a) Regular and unexplained headaches. This is often a sign of worsening vision. If this applies to you them we would suggest a trip to your optician.
b) Improve your performance at work at at school/college. Regular eye examinations help children from some learning difficulties especially with reading.
c) Certain condition such as multiple sclerosis (eg optic neuritis) are often first discovered by an optometrist . Others include high cholesterol, diabetes and glaucoma. As we know early detection means early intervention.
d) Find out if you need spectacles or maybe contact lenses.
e) Finally the eyes act as a window to overall health and wellbeing.
So This August when not get you eyes test!
Thanks for sharing these ideas with us! It’s good to know that it’s national eye exam month. I’ll have to take my kids in for a quick eye exam to make sure their vision is still okay! Great article. http://www.northtceoptom.com.au
What would be the reason for regular headaches and how can an eye exam help? The reason why I ask that is because it was mentioned in the article about it. Although my best guess is that the headaches would have to with some issue in the eyes. http://www.afecc.net
It’s really good to know what the signs of eye problems are. I’ve been having a few of these symptoms, including unexplained headaches. I’ve tried everything to get rid of them except treating my eyes. If eye problems are the possible cause, it’s definitely worth talking to an eye doctor to see if I need vision correction. http://www.lvfamilyeyecare.com/index.cfm?content.display&pageID=68
I’ve often wondered if my headaches were connected to my vision at all. I haven’t seen an eye doctor since I was young and now that I have an insurance that lets me get one free eye exam a year, I’ll be doing that soon! I was given glasses back when I was in junior high, but those ended up giving me headaches so I stopped wearing them. Hopefully my vision hasn’t gotten way worse since then! http://californiaeyespecialists.com/monrovia/
I liked the part that talked about how your performance can increase at work and school. I had never thought about that, but I can see how you could do better by being able to see different things. I suppose every person is going to have different needs, so it might require some research to determine what would work best for you. http://sherwoodparkeyecare.ca/comprehensive-eye-exams/
This was an interesting post about when it is time for an eye exam. I had no idea that unexplained headaches could do with worsening vision. Lately I have been getting a lot of headaches. Maybe it is time for me to see the eye doctor!

Great article! My sister has glasses now but she had no idea she needed them. When she went to the doctor she found out she was nearsighted. It seems important to visit an optician even if you think you have great vision.

There are certainly many benefits to getting a regular eye exam from an optometrist. When it comes to health, people often forget about their eyes. Getting a regular eye exam is important.

I didn’t realize that headaches could be a sign of bad eyesight. My daughter has been complaining about her head hurting lately. Maybe I should take her in for an exam next week. A professional should be able to figure out what’s wrong. http://watsonvision.com/
Thank you so much for the list of signs that indicate that I may need an eye exam. I didn’t know that headaches could be caused by worsening vision. Now that I think about it, I can see how. If your eyes are straining to make out what you are seeing, then that is going to effect the brain and thus cause a headache. I have been having frequent headaches lately. I will have to make an appointment with an optometrist.

Oh no, I missed the national eye exam month! I need some contacts, though, so I will have to go by the optometrist sooner or later. I think it’s just one of those things that people procrastinate for a long time. I hope that there aren’t any problems that have developed since then. http://arizonaeyes.net
I think that eye exams are very important. They aren’t just important to check your eyesight, but you can tell a lot about your overall health from your eyes. Certain diseases manifest themselves through your eyes. http://www.overlakeeyecare.com
I didn’t really think about getting an eye exam for schooling. It would be extremely helpful to be able to improve my performance by getting an eye exam. I am yet to have an eye examination it would be great to get a thorough examination. http://www.tyreecarrmd.com
Thank you for the list of signs that indicate that I need an eye exam. I didn’t know that if you have regular and unexplained headaches, then it could be because your vision is getting worse. I have had some frequent headaches lately. Hopefully it is nothing, but I had better go see an optometrist.

These are really good reasons to get an eye exam. I really like the tip to get an eye exam because many conditions can only be discovered by an optometrist in the early stages. That is why you need to get your eyes checked often. I just got my eye’s checked, and found out I needed glasses. Now I wear glasses all the time.

I didn’t realize that getting your eyes checked out could improve productivity. I’m sure my boss would encourage me to go in and get an eye exam if she read this. Though, now that I think about it, I haven’t had one in a while and it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to get my eyes checked! http://www.myvisioncare.com
rbenson1 Can I suggest that you see an eye doctor as you have posted this twice and have done nothing about it
I didn’t know that regular and unexplained headaches could actually be a sign of worsening vision. My husband has been complaining of increased headaches lately. It seems like it would be a good idea for him to get an eye exam. It would be good to know if his headaches were caused by poor vision. http://drdurante.com/eyecare/eye-exams/
I already knew that eye exams were a good idea, but this certainly gave me even more reasons to schedule them regularly. I had no idea there were medical conditions that can be first discovered by an eye doctor. That is really interesting, and makes me feel better about the overall state of my health. I’m glad I’m keeping an eye on things (pun intended).

Thank you for the reasons why I should get an eye test. I didn’t know that regular and unexplained headaches could be a sign of your vision getting worse. I had better talk to my optometrist about this. Hopefully he can shed a little more light on the subject.

It seems like a good idea to visit the eye doctor regularly. My husband has been having a lot of headaches recently. I wonder his vision is worsening. He has never had eye sight problems but is getting older now. He doesn’t think he needs to see an ophthalmologist yet. <a href=’http://www.advancedvisioncare.com’ >http://www.advancedvisioncare.com</a>
Even if you’ve never had eye problems, it might be a good idea to get an eye exam. There are some problems you won’t notice until it’s too late. Besides, a simple eye exam isn’t going to take very long and it’s not too expensive. It’s worth it if you want to avoid going blind in your old age. Just think of it like a dental check-up.

AngelaKillpack I remember having serious migraines as a child; I had assumed it was from watching television, but learned that it was due to deteriorating vision. As you struggle to see things you will start squinting, which leads to greater stress on your eyes. This can lead to painful headaches. I would have an eye exam to ensure that your vision is healthy. Good vision will improve your efficiency at school or work.

I never thought that getting an eye exam could help improve someone’s performance in school or work. It has been awhile since I have gotten an eye exam, but it seems like something that could be important. My sister actually went in for an eye exam not too long ago. I haven’t talked to her a ton recently, but it would be interesting to see how it went for her. Thanks for the article! http://envisionnv.com/request-an-appointment.html
I go to the eye doctor pretty frequently. I really recommend it. You can find out if you have diabetes. That is a tough disease to deal with, yet it is often overlooked. http://www.silverbelleyecare.com
I get headaches a lot, but I always thought it was because I needed to drink more water. Now that I think about it, it could be an eye problem or the fact that I sit in front of computer screens for most of my day. I’ll need to check and see what kind of coverage I have with my insurance to see an eye doctor! http://www.drwilsoneyecare.com/
I personally think I will get an eye exam soon. I haven’t had one for more than 2 years and I am starting to get worried. My father didn’t need glasses until he was about my age and one day he noticed that his vision was a little fuzzy. I’m nervous my vision could do the same thing as I get older. http://ronaldmedwickod.com/waterford-ct-fashion-eyewear.htm
It is true that regular eye exams can help improve your performance at work and school. I put off getting an eye exam for years and years. Finally, I decided to get one. I did need glasses, which didn’t bother me too much. However, when I wore my glasses to school the next day, I was thrilled to see the difference it made. I felt as though I was actually smarter and more able to learn. The power of glasses is real!
