Autism Rocking Chair
Katie shares “Inspired by a STEM project I completed with a friend, I’ve designed a rocking chair for autistic children which will help them to relax when they’re agitated. It will minimise the external stimuli of an environment, creating a safe place for the child to rest in. I researched various behavioural disorders and chose autism because of the wide range of sensory reactions experienced. My A-Level project aims to be more inclusive and adaptable than products currently available; also being flat-packable for more efficient transport around the world. I’ve designed it for children between the ages of 3 and 7, although as you can see it is suitable for teenagers too.
I’ve now completed my project and would love if anyone could provide any feedback at all to include in my evaluation please?

Great idea. My only sugestion would be to extend rockers out the curved side to allow rocking but not full roll over. Something similar to the back base to a rocking chair.
In the current state if the child got too aggressive with their rocking it could possible flip back.
That looks awesome, my son is 14 and is continually rocking himself to keep calm. Is it available to buy?
Even better if you put material that could open and close on the sides 🙂
