What type of autism have you or a loved one been diagnosed with?

Can your Child get Disability Benefits if they are on the Autism Spectrum?

A few years back I spent about ten minutes outside my son’s school gate.

The unit he was in had around a dozen student between 5-8.  One thing I noticed today was the wide range of behaviours from the children.  They varied from looking in the air at passing birds  to a spot of dancing.

Autism was described to me , once , as a snowflake condition .  That is each autistic person is soooooooo different with multiple facets to their autism.  Our son has been diagnosed with classic autism but showed, as with around 30% of people with autism, showed signs of regression.

So I was really interested in other people’s  diagnosis?  It would be great if you could share your views using the poll below.

Thanks in advance

Over the last few years there seem to have been loads of changes in diagnostic classifications when it comes to autism.

Rett’s syndrome, Asperger’s syndrome, ASD, ASC , classic autism or even Kanner’s syndrome are used. The subgroups of autism can get confusing.

AmandaPDA Thanks for this – really appreciate the comment
AmandaPDA Don’t forget about Pathological Demand Avoidance, it is only officially recognized in the U.K., but rest assured it is a very real Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Hopefully one day it will be recognized in the US and around the world. Much love to my PDA families!!

#Autism Do you or your loved one have mild, moderate or severe autism?

Mild, Moderate or Severe Autism

Mild, Moderate or Severe Autism

Over the last few weeks we have been looking at types and subgroups of autism. And which ones our readers and their loved ones fall into.

One of our respondents said we were looking at it from the wrong way round. Rather we should find out if our readers of their loves ones had mild, moderate or sever autism.

So we have set up a short poll to find out.

It would be great if you could take part. Also please tell us more in the comments section below!

Many thanks!
