World MS Day 2015

This year World MS Day takes place on the 27th of May. Which is next Wednesday to us ordinary folk.

It is one of the big days in the multiple sclerosis awareness calendar so we would like it if you could get involved.

As part of World MS Day please can you “send this e-card to someone who’s helped break down barriers to access in your life. Add your own message to explain how they’ve impacted your life. Then send it via email or social media. Use the hashtag #strongerthanMS to help us collect thank-you messages and share inspiring stories” when posting on social media.

World Multiple Sclerosis Day. In your view was it a success? How is it best to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis?

Multiple sclerosis awareness

I’ve been involved, over the years, with number of awareness raising days and events.

And I ask myself do they have any effect? (Actually to be fair it must work as I was targeted by people who hate people with autism on World Autism Day and this blog was brought down for most of the day by a DDoS attack – so somebody must notice.)

Yesterday was many of us in the multiple sclerosis community will know was World MS Day. Run every year it is full on great ideas and real commitment from its supports.

Burt what is the upshot of all this hard work?

Can I be honest and say not much from where I am typing? Sure with in the MS community we take note but outside I don’t think much. I mean treatments get approved slowly but everyone thinks you are drink when you fall over. Which strikes me as not much change!

So over to you. What do you think?

Did World MS day meet its objectives?

How would you raise multiple sclerosis awareness.

Any suggestion gratefully received. You can use the comments section below to add your view. Or indeed share any links to useful events.

Thanks very much in advance.

Multiple sclerosis tattoos. Please drop round to our blog and share your MS related tattoo.

Multiple Sclerosis Tattoo from Stacey

When I started working in healthcare one thing I had no idea about was how many people in the MS community tattoos had related to multiple sclerosis.

But the arrival of social media soon relieved me of my ignorance.   Indeed in the various multiple sclerosis groups I have worked on it is pretty common for people to want to share their MS body art.  Have a look at https://www.facebook.com/MultipleSclerosisTalk to see what I mean.

Medical and healthcare related tattoo seem to be popular for two reasons.  For people with diabetes it is a great tool to let ambulance people, nurses and doctors know about their condition in case of diabetes related coma or a car accident.

Within the multiple sclerosis community on the other hand tattoo are used as a brilliant way of increasing awareness of MS and, in some cases, for showing support for a loved one.

PatientTalk.Org thought it would be a good idea to provide a blog post where our readers could share their MS tattoos

So please feel free to post a picture of your multiple sclerosis tattoos in the comments section of this blog.   If this proves a problem you can email your picture to us at info@patienttalk.org  and we will post them on your behalf.

Thanks very much in advance.
