Men’s Health Week 2014 – Health and Work – promoting mental health in men.

Men's Health Week

Men’s Health Week

Work and health seems to be the buzz for this week.   About an hour ago I finished writing a blog post about SAP’s “Autism at Work”  initiative.

But it is not all good news this morning the BBC reported that “the economic crisis in Europe and North America led to more than 10,000 extra suicides, according to figures from UK researchers.” A more than depressing though. Anecdotally I have also been told that there has been a rise in the sale on non-prescription sleeping aids in the UK.

So, of course, I’m more than happy to promote Men’s Health Week which is being run this week by the Men’s Health Forum. The theme this year is “Health and Work” and the aim is to promote mental health which affects nearly 20% of men in the workplace.

Can I suggest you go over to their site where they outline the issues in more detail than I have space to do here.

I’d also like to mention that the site is one of the better ones I have seen from an advocacy group. Their social media section is excellent and I hope that this is a sign of things to come.

So please support the week by sharing their great graphic to your family and friends!
