A few days ago we launched a short poll which looked the triggers for flare ups from various different medical conditions. And we were interested to find that the most common cause of a flare (currently just below 50% of all respondents) is stress.

We have looked at different ways of dealing with stress in the past but new information is always gratefully received.

Flares – what external factors trigger your flares?

Quite a number of medical conditions have what are called flares. These include fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. And indeed any painful condition.

So what exactly is a flare? Simply put it is an exacerbation the symptoms of a chronic medical condition . Sometimes referred to as a flare-up or relapse, a it takes place when your symptoms temporarily get worse.

What interests us today is not the underlying condition but rather the external factors which trigger the flare.
