Donnee Spencer’s Medical Awareness Butterflies – Which one do you want a copy of?

Donnee's Medical Awareness Butterflies

Donnee’s Medical Awareness Butterflies

Over the last few years Donnee Spencer has produced these amazing awareness butterflies.

As you can see so far she has covered psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, COPD, strokes, Crohns, cancer, autism, fibromyalgia, diabetes and cerebral palsy among others.

The purpose of this blog is three fold.  Firstly simply to showcase Donnee’s brilliant work.

Secondly we are hoping she will be able to send us individual  copies which we can share with our readers on separate posts.   Please use the comments box to let us know which ones you might like posted first.

Finally if you would like Donnee to consider other causes to produce these wonderful images for –  please let us know in the comments box and we will share with her.

Many thanks in advance and many thanks Donnee!

  1. MS for myself, beast cancer for my family, diabetes for my father, a cure for all diseases. Grandmother & cousin, both breast cancer survivors. Sadly, my grandmother was diagnosed with dimensia later in her life & passed from that.

  2. I find it funny that I’ve just found this page as I sometimes go to a group in Shropshire for people with Autism called Shropshire Autonomy.  The groups logo is a blue butterfly because we had a member caled Dr Danny Beath, who sadly passed away a few years ago.  He was very interested in nature and photography and did some amazing nature photos.  He used to describe himself as a blue butterfly, hence the reason why our group took on the logo of a blue butterfly.  It’s funny to notice that whilst Donnee’s butterfly for Autism has a lot of multiple colours in the middle (I presume that is based on the multi-coloured autism jigsaw puzzle piece?) the outside of the autism butterfly is blue.

  3. Fibro & MS.  I have fibro and my daughter MS
They are all beautiful……  I know we typlically think pink is cancer… and the ribbon,  but different types of cancer have different colors.  My daughter’s best friend found out she had breast cancer when pregnant with her first child.  She never saw her child’s 3rd birthday.  She came to hate the color pink.

  4. LIVER DISEASE CHIRROHSIS OF THE LIVER……. ALSO SPLEEN SWELLING……..LOW BLOOD PLATELETTES….THESE ARE MY HEALTH PROBLEMS THAT I MUST LIVE WITH AND TRY TO DEAL WITH EVERYDAY.

  5. Fibromyalgia, Autism, Crohn’s disease, all diseases, and diabetes please. If there could be one for arthritis’, Empty Sella Syndrome (ESS), Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome/Disease (PCOS/PCOD), Headaches/Migraines, HERD/acid reflux, ADHD, bipolar disorder…I’d very much appreciate butterflies in those areas.

  6. I have a spinal trauma/disease called Adhesive Arachnoiditis and Sjogren’s syndrome. Of course I would love to see a butterfly for these specifically but she does have one that covers all diseases as there are soooo many!

  7. Why are the butterflies for Crohns Disease & Fibromyalgia identical? Why can’t Crohns be a different color or combo of colors? Fibromyalgia is already associated with purple!

  8. MS for myself.
As for other diseases I would like to see, Intracranial Hypertension, also known as pseudotumor cerebri. IH or PTC (blue and green), Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, CIDP. Some people call it Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) (blue), Chiari Malformation (purple). I suffer from all of these listed.

  9. Fibromyalgia, Psoriasis for me, Lung Cancer for family, Cancer for my mom, and would love to see Heart Disease for my dad, and Syringomyelia for me. They are all BEAUTIFUL!!!! I LOVE BUTTERFLIES!!!!

  10. I would love to have the one for MS.  I would also like an attempt on one for Lyme Disease…. The Lyme green has been used, but it mimics so many other diseases that it can easily integrate other colours as well.
This is a great job 🙂

  11. I’d love to have one for CHD’s.. Aka congenital heart defects. The colors we use are red and blue. Thanks a million!

  12. I’d also love to have one for adult/childhood heart defects. The colors for it are red and blue. 🙂 You’re awesome for doing these!

  13. These are absolutely beautiful!  I would like a copy of the MS butterfly please.  You should consider finding a jeweller to make these into brooches.  If you sold them to fundraise for the individual causes, you would help raise a lot of money!

  14. Shockem98 Thank you!  The whole collection is in my wall post on the Medical Identity Cards wall posts 🙂  (if you look through the comments on this page, I’ve linked it)  🙂

Forgive my ignorance but how do I navigate to the Medical Idenity Cards page wall posts?
    You have a wonderful talent,

  18. Beautiful butterflies!! I would love to see one for ‘endometriosis’. I have been diagnosed for 10 years now.

  19. CyndiNordgrenDenney Just added the congenital heart disease to the collection:)  They’re all posted on the Medical Identity Cards page wall posts!  🙂

  20. Would LOOOOVE autism (my 14 yr old son is HF autistic) and Fibromyalgia (for myself) ones… I’d also love to see congenital heart disease (and adult congenital heart disease) as well!! I have a congenital heart defect, and think this would be fabulous!!

  21. I have the pleasure of having not just one but two majors. I have Crohn’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Both of which I am told they can’t treat. So when I saw these very beautiful Butterflies I was very impressed with how they look. So with that I would love to request one of each if I may. I thank you for what you do in making the ribbons blossom into beautiful Butterflies.

  22. JennFabricGirl They’re on the Medical Identity Cards site in the wall posts 🙂  I have posted them all there!  I wish you all the best with your diagnosis, that’s what I have too!  Please feel free to message me any time on FB if you ever have questions!  🙂

  23. I love the design.  They are all beautiful.
I would love the cancer, MS and Cure for all diseases.
Great job and an elegant way to increase awareness.

  24. I would be interested in Cerebral Palsy (for my son) and fibromyalgia. Is there one for Hemiplegia? If not may I put Hemiplegia forward as a suggestion?
    Many thanks,
    Sue.

  25. A Cure for All Diseases, please, since you do not have mine represented yet.  Sjogren’s Syndrome & Lupus, please & thanks.  C

  26. Oh, they are beautiful. I’m amazed at the effort and talent that has gone into these. It would be nice to see one for ME/CFS  (the awareness colour is blue, I believe).

  27. Would love a fibromyalgia butterfly! But they are all amazing! Could you design one for Accoustic Neuroma as well? …
