This time it is for some research for our next VoxPop blog. This blog will look at discrimination at work of people who have an acute or chronic medical condition.
It would be great if you could take the poll below to help us get a feel for the extent discrimination people fac.
Interesting question. I have a seizure disorder and I’ve definitely come across some discrimination. It’s an issue to an employer when you can’t come into work on a short term notice. This also isn’t something I disclose to employers right when getting hired.
Employers have a mentality where if there’s something wrong with you, there’s someone “normal” who can do the job without any problems. I would guess while a lot of employers don’t state it – they’d secretly be preferring to hire people without “issues.”
