Will President Trump be good for the Autism Community?

In the seven days surrounding the inauguration of President Trump there has been a huge amount of chatter about the impact of the election on the autism community.

So I thought it would be of interest and use to ask my readers what their view on the subject is. I’ve therefore set up a poll to find out the views of my readers.

Please take part in the poll below which just asks the simple question “Will President Trump be good for the Autism Community?”

I’d also like to mention that all the votes are secret so you have nothing to worry from the privacy pint of view.

Please do share any thoughts you may have about President Trump and the Autism community in the next four years.

Many thanks in advance!

Update 1

“not if he doesn’t act/enforce on the rights of people with disabilities. I don’t see anything in his plan that tells me he understands what people with disability need. especially after witnessing first hand his appalling display of imitating a man.”

“As a charter school teacher, we have full inclusion of all ASD kids in our school. Time for educational change.”

“He has already gotten rid of the insurance companies having to except and pay for president existing conditions. How long did we fight for our kids to have that.”

“I would like to say no but I believe in giving people a chance to prove me wrong so we shall see”

“People are saying his son may well be on the spectrum. If thats true, how could he not be good”

“The last guy like him tortured and experimented on us. We are “useless eaters” to them. So my answer is an emphatic No. He will be a terror for all disabled people.”

Update 2

“not if he doesn’t act/enforce on the rights of people with disabilities. I don’t see anything in his plan that tells me he understands what people with disability need. especially after witnessing first hand his appalling display of imitating a man.”

“He is repealing ACA. It embraced new therapies for our kids. He cares about money-not people”

“He doesn’t accept differences. People on the spectrum are just another minority that won’t fit in his square box.”

“Any person who nan make fun of a man with a disability during the campaign is not going to totally switch and become an advocate. I fear repeal/changes to IDEA, Rehab Act if 1973, and the ADA”

“I have one child with autism and the other with 2 rare diseases. I feel he will not have do right by my children. I am worried about Betsy DeVos and Tom Price.”

“its my understanding that he feels we should change the immunization regimen to spread it out ? at least he has voiced feelings about Autism”

“You know I am not quite sure where he stands on this. I have not really heard him adress this in any way. I am actually very courious to know where he stands with this subject and what are his plans (if he has any) on addressing autism.”

“If he is not educated about autism; he may not. But the Autism Community can get his attention . He’s a good listener… LET’S TALK!!”
