World Mental Health Day 2013 – please like and share to help us raise awareness of mental health and the stigmas surrounding it.

World Mental Health Day 2013 is this year on the 10th of October.

We have produced an image that we hope will be useful in promoting awareness of mental health related issues.  It would be really great if you could share this with your friends and family to show your support.

  1. World Mental Health Day 2013
    Patient Talk:
Let’s look it over & talk it through

I know for a FACT, that many of you will be able to relate to the text below. In putting IT down where I can see IT, helps as a vital part of the healing process in coping with & managing depression/anxiety/panic attack (as they tend to come hand in hand).
    5 weeks ago:
Feels like little pin picks in my frontal lobe.
    3 weeks ago:
OMGG that hurts so much.. A 20 minute stabbing pain in the back of my brain.. Straight after my right hip & knee begin to ache.
Yesterday my right foot/ankle start to hurt..
Decide to go see the doc, I give him the low down on what’s what..
My leg is fine, my brain is good..
    Prognoses:
I am under far to much stress for my mind to handle, therefore it has began to manifest it’s self on my physical well-being.
    Prescription:
Eat, sleep & avoid stressful situations.. Use cognitive techniques to rationalise my thinking.
So much for grasping a hold of my emotional intelligence & well being..
    Own my own feelings.. hum
BLAH.. BLAH.. BLAH BLAH BLAH… BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRR
No.. NO.. no….. I will not get angry, I will not get sad, I will not let myself get mad.
Really did wish it was, OH sooooo simple but it’s not..
& there is, that word again, ‘BUT’…
It’s an excuse, a throb off, a cop out. A defeatists retort to a challenge that dose not agree with our SENSE of reasoning.
Is your glass half empty or half full..
    Neg brain says empty
    Pos brain says full
Appreciate what one has, for someone somewhere is wishing for what you have.
We are a wolf of 2 halves:
One is good & one is bad.. surround yourself with those that will feed the part YOU want to grow & nourish.
Others will either help fill you with negativity or productive reinforcements using persuasive physical or verbal language.
Take a look at some examples of the emotive language used.
    Verbal Negatives
Idiot, Fool, Tramp, Whore, Slag, Slapper, Bitch, Dumb, Stupid, Can’t
    Verbal Positives
Good, Well done, Wonderful, Great, Fantastic, Super, Can
Now digest both sets of words, spend a bit of time thinking about them, (keep saying each set several times over) take note of how they make you FEEL.. & remember you are the one in control of those feelings you/we allow our self’s to feel.
Others may well try to get a reaction out of us, however we need not permit any unwanted feeling to arise. This is not an easy human quality to master, especially when someone may be shouting elevated belittlement’s at you. Hat’s off to those that have got a degree in this masters, you are indeed well on the way to the next stage of the human existence.
